Chamberlaine's Lambert's Point Farm
(For more Norfolk geography tidbits, click here.)
"...Lambert's Point Farm, No. 2, The Chamberlaine Tract: The Chamberlain tract contains about 61(?) acres, about 50 acres cleared the balance in wood; has on it a cottage house and out buildings. It is situated on the Elizabeth river, of which it commands a beautiful view up and down – all the steamers and vessels going to and from Norfolk passes its doors. There is a young and thrifty orchard of peach and apple trees on the place. The oyster ground is very good, although I have never used it for planting them. This, like the Woodhouse tract, is also in a high state of cultivation having been drained and manured in the same manner, and has a good plank fence.
The two places are distant about 3 miles from Norfolk, by land and two miles by water – originally they were distinct tracts and will be sold separately. Each place is about the proper size for a trucker, and each place in fine condition. Most person about Norfolk know what this land will yield in the way of early truck. Purchasers are invited to visit the places–they will find me at the home farm, and Mr. Halstead, at Lambert's Point ready to give them any information and show them the premises...."
