Fairfields, 1858
(For more Norfolk geography tidbits, click here.)

"For Sale, Fairfields: That valuable farm called Fairfields, situated at head water of the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River.  This farm contains 520 acres of land, by recent survey, of which about 300 acres are cleared and in good heart.  The improvements consist of a large brick dwelling well built and in good order.  Kitchen, barn, stables,Hampton Roads Times Magazine
HamptonRoadsTimes.com etc.  The buildings alone are worth all the money asked for the farm.  Two of the landings can be rented out and a portion of the woodland can be sold at the rate which is asked for the tract which is $25 per acre.  The location is considered to be as healthful as any in Eastern Virginia.  We deem it unnecessary to say more in an advertisement, presuming that any one wanting to buy will examine the premises.  A number of North Carolinians have bought farms in the neighborhood of Fairfields.  We would say to any one wanting a farm, visit Fairfields before you purchase.  Apply to the owner on the premises near Kempsville or Jas. G. Pollard, act'r."
